The white iPhone — the abominable snowman of the gadget world — might finally show its face to the world soon. In fact, there are whispers claiming that we'll see it on shelves by the end of April.
Businessweek reports that "three people with knowledge" of Apple's plans shared information which suggests that the wait is almost over:
The new model will be available from AT&T Inc. and Verizon Wireless by the end of April, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified because the plans aren’t public. The release was stalled as Apple resolved manufacturing challenges, including paint that peeled under heat, one person said.
This report, while unconfirmed, would fit in with prior statements by Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President for Worldwide Marketing. Schiller previously remarked that the white iPhone would be "a beauty" and arriving in the spring.
At this point most of us probably don't even care about owning a white iPhone and have simply given up on the wait — it's been ten months after all — but it will still somehow be satisfying to see the device go on sale so that we can finally stop wondering if it's a figment of our imaginations.
